edar Hill is a working Alpaca Farm located in The Plains, Virginia.  Our work on the property has included enhancing the property with many shade and ornamental trees, extensive stonemasonry, custom ironwork, designing parking and vehicular access areas, and designing and installing attractive, low-maintenance plantings around the property’s primary barn.

These particular images are of an area on the property that we refer to as the “South Garden” which is an enclosed kitchen and perennial flower garden in an area between the main house and detached garage.  The garden area is defined by a stone wall on one side and a highly-detailed cedar fence on the other.  The centerpiece of the garden is a graceful sculpture which was selected by the homeowner and placed into the design by Metes & Bounds Landscape Design.

This garden is not only a perennial garden, but it is also a working kitchen garden as well as a sculpture garden. The result of this blend of styles is an eclectic garden that contains many of the various elements of rural sophistication.
